About Walter A. Lesnevich

Walter A. Lesnevich, with his wife/law partner Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich (divorce and family law), founded Lesnevich, Marzano-Lesnevich, O’Cathain & O’Cathain, LLC. During his more than 40 years as a personal injury lawyer, medical malpractice, and criminal attorney, Walt has amassed considerable expertise as, and the reputation of, a lawyer who fights for his clients.

Walt has taken cases involving professional malpractice, wrongful death, automobile accidents and injuries, medical malpractice, drug and medical device litigation, products liability, homicide, and criminal defense. He has defended persons in State and Federal Courts accused of murder, financial crimes, rape, sexual assault, computer crimes, and child pornography. While he is very accomplished professionally, what truly sets him apart is his personal approach to every client. Walt believes in a hands-on, full blast effort on behalf of people who need a trial lawyer.

Throughout his long career, he has won many multi-million dollar cases and is a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Attorneys. Walt has tried several gastric bypass cases, each bringing significant recoveries. His clients recently recovered over $1,000,000.00 for a car crash case. Additionally, a surgical medical malpractice case in Passaic County recently yielded $750,000.00 for an undocumented worker. Walt represented a motorcycle rider who was severely injured in an accident in Westchester County, New York. The case settled for $1.6 million dollars— a very large amount for a motorcycle injury case.

Walt is an expert trial lawyer. He is recognized as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. Additionally, he formally served as Chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court Board on Attorney Certification. A former Trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Walt is also the former attorney for the borough of Tenafly, NJ.

Walt represented the defendant Edward Ates in the widely publicized case of State of New Jersey v. Edward Ates, a first-degree murder case. The two-and-a-half-month trial generated a great deal of publicity with the case being reported in over 500 newspapers worldwide and carried on over 50 television stations. Walt personally appeared on Dateline NBC, Good Morning America and CNN, as well as numerous other broadcasts. Walt also represented the defendant in a Federal reported case, the United States vs. Brahm, 520 Federal Supplement 2nd 619 (D.N.J. 2007), in a constitutional challenge to the Patriot Act.

Walt received a B.A. from Rutgers University, an M.A. from Syracuse University, and a J.D. from Rutgers Law School. He is a Major, U.S. Air Force, Retired.
